Kohlu (Zaibdar Marri): A massive fire has swept across a large area of the Jandran Hills in Kohlu, with strong winds causing it to spread rapidly. Forest Department officials and local volunteers are engaged in continuous efforts to bring the blaze under control.
According to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Jan Muhammad Kakar, the fire has intensified due to difficult terrain and dry weather, making access and firefighting operations challenging. “Our teams are working tirelessly with limited resources to stop the fire from spreading further. If weather conditions improve, we hope to contain it soon,” he said.
Initial reports suggest that the fire may have been caused by human negligence or the dry climate, though the exact cause has yet to be determined.
The district administration has assured full cooperation with the Forest Department and advised local residents to stay away from the affected area to avoid any casualties.
The fire has not only damaged natural vegetation but also poses a serious threat to wildlife in the region.
Meanwhile, a Levies Quick Response Force (QRF) comprising 70 personnel has been dispatched to assist in firefighting operations, under the supervision of Risaldar Major Sher Muhammad Marri, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Azeem Jan Dumar..
