Balochistan Assembly Committee Reviews Ship Recycling Bill 2025

Quetta :The Standing Committee on Balochistan Development Authority, chaired by Dr. Ashok Kumar, held a meeting attended by provincial assembly members, secretaries, and officials including Captain (R) Javed Khan, Chairman of Balochistan Development Authority.

The committee thoroughly discussed the draft Balochistan Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships Bill 2025, aimed at aligning the ship recycling industry with international standards, protecting the environment, and modernizing the Gadani Ship Recycling Yard.

Gadani, the world’s third-largest ship recycling industry, provides employment to thousands and significantly contributes to provincial and federal revenues. Following Pakistan’s accession to the Hong Kong Convention 2009, the bill seeks to establish a sustainable, safe, and eco-friendly ship recycling system in Balochistan.
