PkMAP pays tribute to Pashtunabad martyrs, reaffirms political struggle

QUETTA: The Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has paid rich tribute to its workers who were killed in the Pashtunabad incident on April 27, 2000, marking the 26th anniversary of their martyrdom.

In a provincial press release, the party remembered Sacchi Jan, Wazir Aka, Perwaan and Amanullah, praising their struggle and sacrifices for democratic rights and political ideals.

The statement said PkMAP and its leadership have played a frontline role in democratic movements from the pre-partition era to the present, never hesitating to render sacrifices for constitutional supremacy, parliamentary sovereignty and democratic governance.

It added that the party’s political stance has now become part of the broader democratic narrative in the country, and under the leadership of party chairman and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the alliance “Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan” is actively pursuing the restoration of constitutional rule, provincial autonomy and equality among federating units.

Referring to historical sacrifices, the statement recalled that Khan Shaheed Abdul Samad Khan Achakzai was sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment during the Ayub Khan era for demanding “one man, one vote” and constitutional rights. It said he completed his sentence and continued his political struggle after release.

The party noted that despite repeated sacrifices, including incidents on October 7, 1983, October 11, 1991, and April 27, 2000, efforts to suppress its political programme had continued.

It further said that ignoring constitutional principles has pushed the country into multiple crises, warning that political instability and interference in institutions have deepened national challenges and led to international isolation.

The statement stressed that Pakistan’s crises can only be resolved through strict adherence to the Constitution, with each institution operating within its defined constitutional limits.

PkMAP concluded by reaffirming commitment to its martyrs and their vision, urging workers to intensify efforts to promote the party’s political programme and expand public outreach at grassroots level.
