QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Monday said the provincial government had successfully steered the higher education sector from crisis towards recovery through reforms and increased financial support for public sector universities.
Speaking at the inauguration of a high-voltage engineering laboratory and a facilities strengthening centre at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, he said the budget of public sector universities in Balochistan had been increased from Rs2.5 billion to Rs8bn, helping improve institutional development and academic standards.
He said meaningful reforms introduced through vision and teamwork had improved the ranking and scoring of universities across the province, laying the foundation for quality education.
The governor said ensuring access to essential facilities in public universities had created an environment where learning and innovation could flourish.
He added that timely payment of salaries had enabled faculty members to focus fully on academic responsibilities, while installation of solar systems and the use of additional land for cultivation had strengthened university infrastructure.
Mr Mandokhail said the higher education sector in Balochistan was now emerging with renewed energy and purpose, moving towards a brighter and more promising future.
Vice Chancellor Dr Khalid Hafeez, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Mirwais Kasi and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
