The meeting condemned the exploitation of the poor through high electricity prices and the failure of state institutions to protect citizens.
The disappearance of 250 million rupees worth of mosquito nets in Balochistan was also discussed, with calls for accountability. The meeting stressed the need for a national political dialogue to restore stability and protect citizens’ rights.
The participants agreed to hold another meeting on September 21, 2024, to unite various civil society organizations in Balochistan to form a platform dedicated to defending citizens’ rights and combating injustices. They demanded a revision of the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP) to ensure equitable distribution of resources across all districts and called for better monitoring of government institutions to address public grievances. The meeting concluded that eradicating mismanagement and corruption in Balochistan could potentially bring about 50% of the needed peace, with the remaining 50% depending on fair judicial decisions.
