TURBAT: The University of Turbat football team delivered an impressive performance in the HEC All Balochistan Inter-University Football Championship 2026, reaching the final and earning recognition for its strong showing throughout the tournament.
The championship was held at the football ground of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal.
Turbat University began its campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Mir Chakar Khan Rind University, Sibi, in the opening match. Saad Ismail scored twice, while Shahab Arif and Jehanzaib Ijaz added one goal each.
In the semi-final, the team faced Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta, in a closely contested match. Both sides failed to score during regular time, and the University of Turbat advanced to the final on the basis of a superior goal difference.
In the final played on April 26, Turbat University faced host team Lasbela University in an intense match. Zeeshan Noor gave Turbat the lead with a fine goal, but Lasbela quickly equalised. The match remained tied after full time and was decided through a penalty shootout, where Lasbela University emerged victorious.
Despite finishing as runners-up, University of Turbat’s Shahan Ghani was declared the Best Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Gul Hassan, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr Kamal Ahmed, faculty members and students congratulated the team, praising their discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The vice chancellor said the university would continue promoting sports and providing opportunities for students to excel in co-curricular and extracurricular activities alongside quality education.
