National Party condemns killing of Prof Ghamkhwar Hayat, lady constable in Turbat

QUETTA: National Party has strongly condemned the brutal killing of noted professor, poet, writer and author Ghamkhwar Hayat in Noshki, describing the incident as a grave loss to society and the intellectual community.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s central spokesperson said intellectuals, writers and scholars like Prof Hayat represented the enlightened face of society and were a valuable national asset. “His ruthless murder is not merely the loss of an individual, but tantamount to pushing the entire society into darkness,” the statement said.

The party also condemned the recent attack on a lady constable in Turbat, in which the woman police official lost her life, terming the incident deeply tragic and deplorable.

The spokesperson criticised the provincial government over the deteriorating law and order situation, alleging that the government had “completely failed” to ensure peace and security in Balochistan.

The statement further referred to the recent abduction of Prof Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Dr Manzoor Baloch and their personal staff member Dr Irshad Baloch, saying the incidents reflected the worsening security situation and growing sense of insecurity in the province.

Expressing concern over repeated attacks on intellectuals, poets, writers, teachers and scholars, the party warned that such incidents posed a serious threat to the academic and intellectual future of society.

The statement urged the government to demonstrate seriousness in ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and property and take effective measures to prevent such incidents in future.
