PkMAP demand end to prolonged load-shedding in Sibi

SIBI: Leaders of the Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) in Sibi have strongly criticised the authorities over prolonged and unannounced electricity load-shedding, warning of protests if the situation is not improved immediately.

PkMAP district president Dr Noor Ahmed Shah Khajak and district general secretary Malik Faqir Muhammad Murghzani said that officials of the power utility, including the relevant administration of the electricity supply company, must take immediate steps to reduce load-shedding hours in Sibi.

They said citizens were being “deliberately subjected to hardship,” adding that such a situation was unacceptable under any circumstances.

According to the leaders, Sibi city is facing up to 14 hours of daily power outages, while rural areas are enduring more than 18 hours of load-shedding. The prolonged disruptions, they said, have brought normal life to a standstill.

They noted that businesses were on the verge of collapse, while women, children, and the elderly were suffering severely amid extreme weather conditions. The worsening situation, they added, has also forced some residents to consider migration from the area.

The leaders demanded an immediate end to unannounced and extended power outages in Sibi, urging the authorities concerned to restore relief to the public without delay.

They warned that if the duration of load-shedding was not reduced, and immediate relief was not provided, the party would reserve the right to launch strong protests. They added that responsibility for any resulting situation would lie with the concerned authorities.
