Balochistan health card benefits 345,000 patients: CM Bugti

QUETTA: Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Monday said the Balochistan Health Card Programme had provided free and quality treatment to more than 345,000 patients across the province.

He said every citizen’s national identity card had been declared their health card to make access to medical services easier and more convenient.

According to the chief minister, the programme includes a network of major public and private hospitals not only in Balochistan but also across the country, allowing patients to receive treatment without financial burden.

Mr Bugti said 69,000 dialysis sessions, over 44,000 chemotherapy treatments and more than 1,200 radiotherapy sessions had been completed under the scheme.

He added that 7,784 angioplasty procedures and 575 bypass surgeries were carried out for heart patients, while 304 children suffering from heart diseases received free treatment.

The health card programme also covered 3,412 neurosurgeries, 12,300 orthopaedic surgeries and 183 burns and plastic surgery cases.

More than 55,000 maternal and child health cases were also handled, including 24,688 normal deliveries and 20,344 C-section procedures, benefiting thousands of women in the province.

The chief minister said the provincial government remained committed to improving the healthcare sector and expanding medical facilities for the people of Balochistan.
