TURBAT: Students from the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences at University of Turbat visited DHQ Hospital Turbat as part of their academic exposure and practical learning activities, where they were briefed on modern diagnostic procedures and laboratory operations.

During the visit, students were given a detailed overview of the hospital’s Covid-19 and PCR laboratory facilities. They were introduced to standard laboratory protocols, biosafety measures, and advanced diagnostic techniques, including PCR testing and GeneXpert technology.

The session provided students with practical insights into the functioning of modern clinical diagnostic systems and helped them better understand the application of laboratory sciences in healthcare settings.

According to the university spokesperson, the visit was supervised by Dr Haneef Ur Rehman, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Engineering and IT, along with head of department Dr Jahangir Khan and faculty member Mr Jeand Ibrahim.

Students actively observed laboratory procedures and gained hands-on understanding of contemporary diagnostic tools used in clinical environments.

During the visit, Dr Haneef also met Dr Waheed Buledi, Medical Superintendent of DHQ Hospital Turbat, to discuss strengthening academic and institutional collaboration between the university and the hospital, particularly in the areas of clinical training and applied medical sciences.

Dr Waheed assured the university of facilitating internship opportunities for students in the hospital’s laboratories to enhance their practical experience in real clinical settings.

It was also mutually agreed to work towards launching a Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) diploma programme as a joint initiative involving DHQ Hospital Turbat, Makran Medical College and the Faculty of Science, Engineering and IT.

The spokesperson said the University of Turbat, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Gul Hasan, was making efforts to provide students with meaningful practical learning opportunities, including hands-on training, field exposure and stronger industry-academia linkages.

These initiatives, the spokesperson added, reflect the university’s commitment to improving the quality of education and preparing graduates who are both academically strong and practically competent.
