QUETTA: A delegation of newspaper editors from Balochistan, led by Syed Anwar Shah, met opposition leaders and senior politicians on Saturday to discuss issues being faced by the newspaper industry and matters related to the proposed Media Policy 2026.
The delegation held separate meetings with opposition leader in the Balochistan Assembly Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, National Party leader Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Senator and senior lawyer Kamran Murtaza, former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan, and Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party central leader Nasrullah Zayrai.
During the meetings, the editors discussed in detail the challenges confronting the newspaper industry in Balochistan, including financial difficulties and policy-related concerns, with special focus on Media Policy 2026.
The delegation stressed the need for practical measures to support the newspaper industry and ensure the survival of regional journalism.
Other members of the delegation included Dr Nashnas Lehri, Mir Ghulam Farooq Lango, Mohammad Atif and Tariq Khan.
