BFA Cracks Down on Substandard Meat in Quetta

Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has launched a targeted campaign against the sale of stale, unhygienic, and substandard meat across Quetta. On the campaign’s first day, BFA inspection teams checked 74 beef, mutton, and poultry shops citywide, sealing one outlet and fining 22 others for violations.

Inspection teams conducted thorough raids in Satellite Town, Sariab, Nawan Killi, Brewery Road, Spinny Road, and other localities. Multiple shops were found breaching hygiene standards and SOPs, with large quantities of spoiled meat confiscated and destroyed on the spot.

Director General Waqar Khurshid Alam stated the initiative follows directives from Provincial Food Minister Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar and Food Secretary Manzar Javed Ali, aiming to ensure consumers receive fresh and safe meat.

Despite prior warnings, many vendors failed to meet health standards, prompting strict enforcement. The BFA will continue daily inspections, and violators will face uncompromising legal action.

The public is urged to verify meat freshness, color, smell, and hygiene when buying, and report suspicious cases to the BFA helpline or official social media channels.
