Balochistan Government Takes Action Against Doctors Involved in Illegal Strike and Hospital Closures

Quetta: The Balochistan government has decided to take strict action against doctors and subordinate staff involved in the illegal strike and the closure of hospitals. Provincial Health Minister, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, confirmed that the government has initiated departmental proceedings against doctors, paramedics, and pharmacists who participated in the strike, and 29 individuals, including medical officers, have been issued show-cause notices.

The show-cause notices have been served to several doctors, including Dr. Bahar Shah, Dr. Kaleemullah, Dr. Saboor Kakr, Dr. Yasir Achakzai, Dr. Mubarak Khan, Dr. Abdul Malik, and pharmacists such as Ejaz Agha, Abid Abdullah, and Fareed Khan, among others.

A spokesperson for the Balochistan government, Shahid Rand, stated that a principle decision has been made to suspend all doctors, pharmacists, and paramedics involved in the forced hospital shutdown. Additionally, the medical registration of doctors involved in the closure will be revoked. The provincial government is also considering writing a letter to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) regarding the issue.

Minister Kakar condemned the closure of healthcare services, calling it alarming and reprehensible. The government emphasized that the disruption of public health services would not be tolerated and legal action will be pursued to prevent such incidents in the future.
