Thousands Join Maarka-e-Haq Victory Anniversary Celebrations in Quetta

QUETTA: Thousands of residents, including students, professionals, traders, civil society members and families of martyrs, gathered at the Polo Ground on Saturday to mark the first anniversary of the historic victory of Maarka-e-Haq, expressing renewed support for the armed forces and the country’s leadership.

The celebrations formed part of province-wide events commemorating the landmark victory, which participants described as a symbol of national unity, resilience and sacrifice.

The main ceremony was held at the Polo Ground, where Governor Balochistan, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and the Corps Commander were present. A large number of civil and military officials, lawmakers, students, members of minority communities and citizens from across the province also attended the event.

Participants paid tribute to the armed forces of Pakistan and Field Marshal Asim Munir, acknowledging their role in defending the country against external aggression.

Speaker Balochistan Assembly, provincial ministers, Inspector General of Police, senior civil and military officials, representatives of minority communities, and a large number of students from universities and colleges were also present. Families of martyrs were given special recognition for their sacrifices in the service of the nation.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti described Maarka-e-Haq as a historic moment when Pakistan demonstrated its strength, dignity and unwavering resolve before the world.

He paid tribute to the armed forces, the country’s political leadership, and particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying his leadership had foiled the malicious designs of the enemy.

“Under the fearless and visionary leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, our forces defeated the enemy’s plans and demonstrated Pakistan’s resilience, determination and defensive capabilities,” the chief minister said.

Delegations and military representatives from friendly countries also attended the ceremony and joined participants in paying homage to the martyrs and the armed forces.

Speakers said the victory of Maarka-e-Haq reflected national unity, courage and sacrifice, adding that the unmatched bravery of Pakistan’s martyrs had enhanced the country’s honour and international standing.

Families of martyrs paid emotional tributes to their loved ones, expressing pride in their sacrifices for the defence and security of the country.

The celebrations also featured performances by renowned singers. Patriotic songs and national anthems drew strong applause and added to the festive atmosphere.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, Quetta city was decorated with national flags, banners and illuminated displays. Major roads, intersections and public buildings were specially illuminated, while banners expressing support for the armed forces and Field Marshal Asim Munir were displayed across the city.

Residents said the provincial capital had been “decorated like a bride”, reflecting the public enthusiasm surrounding the event.

The ceremony concluded with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky, drawing large crowds across the city. Participants raised patriotic slogans and reaffirmed their commitment to Pakistan’s security, stability and development.

Similar commemorative events, rallies and ceremonies were held across Balochistan, where participants reiterated their resolve to honour the sacrifices of martyrs and uphold the spirit of unity symbolised by Maarka-e-Haq.
