QUETTA: Public and social circles have appreciated the efforts of District Education Officer Quetta Dr Nasir Ali Shah to improve the functioning of government schools and address issues faced by teachers and students.
They said the district education office had an important role to play in a large district like Quetta, where improving school performance, ensuring teachers’ attendance and strengthening discipline required regular monitoring and effective oversight.
The groups noted that attention to the supervision of educational institutions, teachers’ attendance and academic activities was a positive step. They stressed that government schools needed to provide children with a better and quality learning environment, as the province’s future depended largely on education and the development of its younger generation.
They said government schools in different parts of Quetta continued to face problems related to basic facilities, availability of teachers and student attendance. Effective monitoring by the district education authorities, they added, was essential to address these issues.
The public representatives also called for resolving legitimate concerns of teachers and providing them with a conducive working environment. They said listening to parents and students and taking practical measures to address their concerns were equally important for improving the education system.
They expressed hope that Dr Nasir Ali Shah would continue efforts to improve educational standards, ensure discipline and teachers’ attendance, and provide students with education aligned with modern requirements.
They also urged the government and senior education authorities to encourage officers taking practical steps to improve the education system and called upon all sections of society to support efforts aimed at promoting education in the province.
