ARUNDEL – Hasnain Abbas Dar struck a determined half-century as Pakistan U19 were bowled out for 305 before England U19 strengthened their position by reaching 121-1 in their second innings on day three of the four-day Youth Test at Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground on Friday. England, who made 333 in their first innings, now lead by 149 runs with nine second-innings wickets in hand, leaving Pakistan facing a challenging final day. Pakistan resumed at 257-6, with Hasnain unbeaten on 26 and Mohammad Sayyam on 11. The pair extended their seventh-wicket partnership to 54 before Sayyam was dismissed for a patient 21 off 93 balls, with one boundary. Hasnain continued to anchor the innings and completed a well-earned fifty before eventually falling for 57 off 166 deliveries. His 187-minute stay included five fours and provided Pakistan with crucial resistance. Abdul Subhan added four, while Mohammad Huzaifa remained unbeaten on one as Pakistan were dismissed in 89.5 overs, conceding a 28-run first-innings deficit.
Manny Lumsden was England’s standout bowler, claiming 5-52, while captain Ralphie Albert took 3-58. England suffered an early setback in their second innings when Abdul Subhan removed first-innings centurion Bertie Michael for seven with the score at 14. However, Leo Selvey-Clinton and Isaac Mohammed steadied the innings with an unbroken 107-run second-wicket partnership. Selvey-Clinton was unbeaten on 68 off 121 balls, while Mohammed finished the day on 46 not out from 55 deliveries. With England firmly in command, Pakistan will need early wickets on the final morning to prevent the hosts from setting an imposing target.
