ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai met Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at the opposition lobby of Parliament House on Monday, where the two leaders held detailed discussions on the country’s overall political situation, parliamentary affairs and the ongoing session of the National Assembly.
According to a press release, both leaders exchanged views on the prevailing political tensions in the country, parliamentary matters and cooperation among opposition parties.
The meeting also reviewed the proceedings of the current National Assembly session, the government’s conduct and a joint strategy for the opposition.
The two leaders stressed that parliament should play an effective role in resolving public issues and strengthening democracy. They also agreed on the need to further enhance coordination and consultation among opposition parties in the current political situation.
