Pakistan Focused on Economic Revival, Not Power Politics: PM Shehbaz

.LONDON: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Monday that Pakistan is not part of any global power struggle and is instead focused on achieving economic prosperity through strategic reforms and international partnerships.

Addressing media in London, the premier clarified that the recently signed Pakistan-Saudi defence pact is not against any country but a formalization of deep-rooted ties between the two nations.

“We are pursuing peace and progress. Our priority is economic revival — not rivalry,” he stated.

He highlighted Pakistan’s efforts in agriculture, IT, AI, and mineral development, and stressed the need to empower the youth through education and skills training.

PM Shehbaz also termed his recent visits to New York and Washington “fruitful,” noting positive discussions with global leaders, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, on regional peace and economic cooperation. He confirmed that Pakistan has nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in global mediation efforts.

On national security, the PM praised Pakistan’s armed forces and reaffirmed unity with Field Marshal Asim Munir on all key issues, including foreign policy and counterterrorism.

“Our forces are eliminating threats like TTP and BLA with bravery. We stand united,” he said.

The premier concluded with a call to action, urging the nation to seize current opportunities and build a self-reliant, prosperous Pakistan.
