Quetta : October is recognized globally as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and efforts to promote awareness are ongoing in Pakistan. In the underdeveloped province of Balochistan, doctors and staff at the Sinar Cancer Hospital will organize seminars in universities and colleges, continuing their annual tradition.
Dr. Khush Nasib Ahmed, Director of Sinar Cancer Hospital, along with Dr. Meh Jabeen Marri, Dr. Hamida Naheed, Dr. Jameela Shuja, and Dr. Shehla Iftikhar, shared these insights during a recent meeting focused on breast cancer awareness.
Participants emphasized that while fighting breast cancer is challenging, it is not impossible. The incidence of breast cancer is alarmingly rising across the country, leading to thousands of women succumbing to the disease each year. A significant barrier to effective treatment is the stigma surrounding breast cancer, which is often regarded as a taboo topic. Many women conceal their condition, allowing it to progress to untreatable stages.
To combat this issue, all doctors at Sinar Cancer Hospital are actively engaged in awareness campaigns to encourage timely intervention and treatment.
