Abdullah Shah was just 14 years old when his life in Afghanistan turned into a nightmare. He lived in a small village where it wasn’t safe to go to school because of constant attacks. His father, a teacher, taught him at home, hoping to give him a better future. But one day, an attack took the lives of his parents, leaving Abdullah Shah all alone.
Abdullah’s uncle took him in, but instead of caring for him, he treated Abdullah terribly. the uncle forced Abdullah to work tirelessly, inflicted physical abuse, and showed him no compassion. After months of suffering, Abdullah Shah couldn’t take it anymore. he escaped from his uncle’s house, determined to find safety and a better life.
Abdullah Shah made a dangerous journey across the border into Pakistan, traveling alone and scared. He eventually reached a UNICEF office, where he was taken in and cared for. The staff quickly recognized Abdullah’s intelligence and eagerness to learn. Despite all the hardships he had faced, he excelled in his studies, particularly in math and science.
UNICEF decided to help Abdullah start a new life. Soon, he will be going to America. Abdullah dreams of becoming a teacher, just like his father, so he can help other children who have also lost everything.
Abdullah’s story is one of strength and hope. Even after losing so much, he never gave up. Now, he has the chance to build a bright future far away from the war and sadness of his past.
