Islamabad: Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal, a prominent leader from Balochistan,chief of Balochistan National Party-Mengal(BNP-M), has resigned from his National Assembly seat.Sardar Mengal was elected as MNA from NA256 Khuzdar in general election. Mengal announced his resignation during a press conference alongside Mehmood Khan Achakzai, stating that there is no point in remaining in an assembly that does not listen to their voices.
Speaking to journalists, Mengal revealed that he had planned to address Balochistan’s issues in the assembly, but he felt that there was no interest in the matter. He stated, “Parliamentarians themselves admit that Balochistan is slipping from their control. I argue that it has already slipped.
He submitted his resignation to the National Assembly Secretariat, explaining in his resignation letter that the current situation in Balochistan forced him to take this step.
After submitting his resignation, Mengal told reporters that the Speaker was not present, so he submitted his resignation to the Secretary. He also mentioned that the decision regarding the resignation of two senators and a member of the Balochistan Assembly from his party would be made by the party.
