Quetta: As part of the Government of Pakistan’s “Digitization and Transparency Campaign 2025,” the Power Division has initiated a nationwide CNIC tagging drive to link electricity meters with consumers’ computerized ID cards. Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) is leading efforts to register each meter to a unique CNIC, targeting the misuse of multiple meters at single premises.
QESCO staff will verify consumer identity, mobile numbers, and ownership status to prevent tariff manipulation and ensure accurate billing. This initiative supports improved monitoring, billing transparency, and customer accountability.
The drive complements digital tools like the “Self Meter Reading App” and paves the way for smart meter infrastructure by 2026. QESCO urges consumers to cooperate by sharing CNIC and mobile details to help curb illegal connections and enhance service quality.
