BISP Marks Independence Day, Launches Banking Inclusion for 10 Million Women

Islamabad – The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) celebrated Pakistan’s 78th Independence Day with a grand ceremony at its headquarters, paying tribute to the Armed Forces for their historic victory in the “Marka-e-Haq” and announcing a landmark financial inclusion initiative.

Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid said the programme was empowering beneficiaries by enabling them to receive funds through Sahulat Accounts and digital banking, allowing them to choose their bank and payment system. She noted that, for the first time in Pakistan’s history, 10 million women would be integrated into the banking system.

Following the special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, she added, BISP was ensuring transparent and dignified payments, facilitating IBAN numbers and Full Mandate Accounts for beneficiaries.

Secretary BISP Aamer Ali Ahmad praised the Armed Forces’ role in safeguarding the nation and reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to fighting poverty and economic injustice.

The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony attended by senior officials, partner bank representatives, and development partners.
