Quetta: A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Tuesday to assess the damage caused by recent monsoon rains in the Naseerabad Division. The meeting reviewed the extent of the damage and the government’s response to the crisis.
Provincial ministers and assembly members from various constituencies within the Naseerabad Division presented updates on the affected areas and proposed recommendations for relief and recovery efforts. Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti highlighted the increasing frequency of severe floods due to climate change, describing it as a significant challenge that requires sustainable planning.
The Chief Minister issued directives for immediate funding to address breaches in the Pat Feeder canal and to implement drainage and water management restoration projects within two weeks. He also ordered a comprehensive feasibility study for managing future flood situations in the Naseerabad Division.
Emphasizing the need for effective irrigation systems to support agricultural development, the Chief Minister called for urgent work to begin on drainage, embankment repairs, and canal desilting projects. “The provincial government is committed to providing emergency and prioritized assistance for recovery efforts in the flood-affected areas,” said Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Provincial Minister for Communications Mir Saleem Khan Khoso, Minister of Health Sardar Zada Faisal Khan Jamali, Nawabzada Tariq Magsi, Provincial Revenue Minister Mir Asim Kard Gello, Parliamentary Secretaries Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri and Abdul Majeed Badini, Secretary Irrigation Hafiz Abdul Basit, Director General PDMA Jahanzaib Khan, and other relevant officials.
