QUETTA : University of Turbat Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Gul Hasan has sought the provincial government’s support for approval and recruitment against vacant senior faculty, statutory and administrative positions at the university.
Prof Dr Gul Hasan made the request during a meeting with Balochistan Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani in Quetta. Additional Secretary Finance Hafiz Muhammad Qasim was also present.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, the participants discussed the university’s financial constraints, preparations for the upcoming University Finance Commission meeting and administrative and academic issues arising from a shortage of senior faculty and key statutory and administrative staff.
The vice-chancellor said filling the vacant positions was essential for accreditation of various academic programmes by regulatory bodies and professional councils, as well as for achieving the objectives outlined in the university’s Strategic Plan 2030.
He informed the minister that statutory positions had already been advertised and the shortlisting of candidates had been completed, while the subsequent selection process was under way in accordance with the prescribed rules and legal framework.
Dr Gul Hasan said the university administration had also submitted a requisition for filling vacant academic and administrative posts to the Department of Colleges, Higher and Technical Education, which had subsequently been placed before the University Finance Commission for final approval.
Mr Nosherwani assured the vice-chancellor of the provincial government’s cooperation in addressing the university’s pending issues and expediting approval for recruitment.
The meeting also covered other administrative and academic matters concerning the University of Turbat.
