QUETTA: The 2nd All Quetta Durra Baloch Boxing Tournament 2026 concluded at the Sports Complex after a series of competitive bouts, with boxers from various clubs and academies across Quetta participating in different age categories and weight classes.
Boxers from Shaheed Arshad Boxing Academy emerged as the leading performers, winning the highest number of gold medals in the tournament. Boxers representing other clubs also displayed strong performances and showcased their skills.
Wasatullah was declared the Best Boxer of the Tournament (Senior) for his outstanding performance, while Habibullah received the Best Boxer award in the Junior category and Adnan was named Best Boxer in the Mature category.
The tournament commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and attracted a large number of boxing enthusiasts to the Sports Complex. Families, friends and supporters of the participating boxers attended the event and encouraged the athletes during the bouts.
The closing ceremony was attended by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Balochistan, Durra Baloch, as chief guest. Deputy Director Sports Jameel Ahmed Mastoi, along with local dignitaries, sports officials, organisers and other guests, also attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Durra Baloch said Balochistan had no shortage of sporting talent and praised the boxers for their performances in the tournament.
He said the provincial government and the Sports and Youth Affairs Department were utilising available resources to promote sports and support athletes across the province.
He added that sporting competitions provided young people with opportunities to demonstrate their abilities and encouraged them towards healthy and positive activities.
The secretary expressed satisfaction over the successful organisation of the tournament and announced a cash prize for Shaheed Arshad Boxing Academy, while expressing his commitment to supporting and organising similar sporting events in the future.
Other speakers congratulated the organisers, participating boxers and members of the boxing community, saying that such competitions were important for developing boxing and other sports in Balochistan.
They also acknowledged Durra Baloch’s contribution to the promotion of sports in the province. The speakers recalled his tenure as Director General Sports, during which several major sporting events were organised, including the 34th National Games and the Chief Minister Balochistan Gold Cup.
They said his efforts had also helped extend sporting activities to towns and remote areas of Balochistan, providing young athletes with greater opportunities to participate and progress towards national-level competitions.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Durra Baloch distributed gold and silver medals, runner-up medals and certificates among the top-performing boxers.
Organisers, officials, committee members and other individuals who contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament were also recognised and presented with souvenirs and appreciation shields.
The 2nd All Quetta Durra Baloch Boxing Tournament 2026 provided a platform for young boxers to demonstrate their talent and contributed to the promotion of boxing and sports activities among the youth of Balochistan.
