Quetta : Modern veterinary healthcare facilities, including an upgraded Disease Investigation Laboratory, a modern Operation Theatre and an Ultrasound Facility, have been inaugurated at the Civil Veterinary Hospital Quetta to improve diagnosis, treatment and disease-control services for animals in Balochistan.
Provincial Minister for Livestock and Dairy Development Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali inaugurated the facilities at a ceremony attended by Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Muhammad Salah Baloch, Director General Animal Health Dr. Muhammad Farooq Tareen, veterinary officers, departmental staff, livestock farmers and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, the Provincial Minister said the Civil Veterinary Hospital Quetta had been serving livestock farmers and animal owners in Balochistan for decades. He stressed that modern diagnostic and treatment facilities were essential for improving animal health, controlling diseases and increasing livestock productivity.
The upgraded Disease Investigation Laboratory is expected to strengthen the department’s capacity for early and accurate diagnosis of livestock diseases, enabling timely treatment and improving disease surveillance and control mechanisms.
The newly equipped Operation Theatre and Ultrasound Facility will enhance diagnostic and surgical services for livestock and pets. The hospital also continues to provide medicines and vaccination services for small and large ruminants.
Officials said the Livestock and Dairy Development Department was also focusing on animal health, breeding, artificial insemination, vaccination, mobile veterinary services, field camps, training and capacity building to extend veterinary healthcare facilities to livestock farmers across the province.
Secretary Muhammad Salah Baloch emphasized the need to further strengthen veterinary services through modern technology and effective field-level interventions.
Director General Animal Health Dr. Muhammad Farooq Tareen highlighted the importance of modern diagnostic facilities, improved treatment services and effective disease-control mechanisms for protecting livestock and supporting farmers.
The department reaffirmed its commitment to providing better diagnosis, better treatment and healthier animals, with the aim of strengthening support for livestock farmers and contributing to a more productive and sustainable livestock sector in Balochistan.
