GWADAR: The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) has finalised three development projects, including breakwater expansion, dredging, and flooring for parking small boats at fishing jetties, officials said on Monday.
The decision was made during a visit by MPA Gwadar Maulana Hidayatur Rehman and GDA Director General Moinur Rehman Khan to Sarbandar and Pishukan fishing jetties, along with other ongoing development projects in the area.
Officials said the PC-I of all three projects had been prepared and would be included in the upcoming financial programme.
A GDA official said the authority would also be empowered to set suitable charges for commercial activities at the jetties to make them financially self-sustainable and ensure regular maintenance and dredging through generated revenue.
The delegation also reviewed the under-construction 500-metre-long causeway at Marine Drive Palleri Kor Hor, where work is progressing rapidly.
Officials expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of work and said the project was expected to be completed within the next two months.
DG GDA Moinur Rehman Khan said the authority had already constructed two modern fishing jetties in Sarbandar and Pishukan, which had improved fish unloading, safe berthing of boats and business activities, benefiting fishermen and the local economy.
Fishermen present during the visit urged authorities to inaugurate the auction hall at Sarbandar Fishing Jetty to make the facility fully operational.
The delegation also reviewed progress on the rehabilitation of Pishukan Fishing Jetty, where officials said a complete rehabilitation plan, including an access road, had already been prepared.
