Balochistan Approves Digital Media Policy, AI-Based Hiring and Climate Fund Plan

QUETTA: The Balochistan cabinet on Thursday approved the Balochistan Digital Media Policy 2026, alongside key governance and development reforms including AI-based recruitment and a revised climate change strategy.

The meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, endorsed the Climate Change Fund utilisation policy aimed at strengthening the province’s response to climate-induced disasters and improving resilience in vulnerable areas.

Officials said the cabinet also approved the Digital Media Policy 2026 to regulate advertising practices, discourage dummy publications and bring digital and social media platforms under a formal framework to ensure transparency and accountability.

In a major administrative reform, the cabinet approved the use of artificial intelligence for recruitment in government departments for posts from Grade 4 to below Grade 16 from the next fiscal year, with instructions to clear pending hiring cases to expedite employment.

The cabinet also approved funding for the Balochistan Endowment Fund to support education, health and social welfare initiatives. Chief Minister Bugti said the reforms were aimed at promoting transparency, merit and efficient governance across the province.
