MPA Hadiya Nawaz Felicitates Quetta’s Gold Medalist Sarwat Fatima

Quetta: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of the Provincial Assembly, Hadiya Nawaz Behrani, visited the residence of emerging badminton player Sarwat Fatima on Sunday to congratulate her on winning a gold medal in recent competitions.

During the visit, Ms Behrani met Sarwat Fatima and her family members, extending warm felicitations on the athlete’s remarkable achievement, which has brought pride to both Balochistan and the country.

Speaking on the occasion, the PML-N lawmaker highlighted the immense sporting potential in the province, emphasizing the need for proper support and recognition. “There is no shortage of talent in Balochistan; what is needed is to support this talent and value it,” she said.

She further praised Sarwat Fatima for her outstanding performance, noting that she has illuminated the name of both the province and Pakistan. “As a daughter of Balochistan and a PML-N leader, I stand with Sarwat Fatima. Insha Allah, we will continue to honour and support such talent,” Ms Behrani added.

Sarwat Fatima, while briefing the visiting MPA about her recent successes, recalled that Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, had promised to facilitate her training at an international centre abroad. However, she noted that the commitment has yet to be fulfilled.

Expressing optimism, she said she hopes the chief minister will honour his promise, as he has done in the past, and provide opportunities for young athletes from Balochistan to further develop their skills on international platforms.

The visit reflects growing political recognition of athletes from Balochistan, who continue to achieve success despite limited resources. Sarwat Fatima’s recent victory has also gained widespread appreciation on social media, with many hailing her as a rising star of the province.
