Minister for National Health Services Syed Mustafa Kamal has stressed the need to control rapid population growth to ensure Pakistan’s development and stability.
Addressing a ceremony at the University of Karachi today, he said Pakistan’s population is growing by 6.7 million people annually. He noted that rapid population growth is putting pressure on national resources and contributing to unemployment, child stunting, malnutrition, and maternal deaths.
The Minister called for reforms to shift the health sector’s focus from treating illnesses to preventing them, urging cooperation from all segments of society, particularly academia and industry.
He said comprehensive reforms in the healthcare system are essential to building a healthy society.
