KP govt to take action against over 500 illegal housing schemes

PESHAWAR, : The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to take action against more than 500 illegal housing schemes across the province.
According to official sources on Tuesday, notices have been issued to the housing schemes declared illegal, while the authorities have also contacted the Federal board of Revenue (FBR) and other federal institutions regarding the matter.
The government has decided not to provide new electricity and gas connections to the housing schemes declared illegal. Details of the schemes have also been shared with the relevant federal and provincial departments to facilitate further legal and administrative action.
Official data shows that 85 housing schemes in Peshawar have been declared illegal. Similarly, 41 schemes each in Mardan and Charsadda, 12 in Haripur, 17 in Nowshera and 7 in Abbottabad have been declared illegal.
Including schemes identified in other districts, the total number of illegal housing schemes across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has exceeded 500.
Sources said the authorities have provided details of the illegal housing schemes to the FBR and relevant federal institutions. The move is aimed at ensuring coordinated legal and administrative action against illegal housing projects across the province.
