QUETTA: The death toll from a terrorist attack near Chaman Phatak in Quetta rose to 14 on Sunday, including three personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC), according to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind.
In a statement, Mr Rind, who serves as adviser to the chief minister on political and media affairs, said several others — including women and children — were injured in the blast and shifted to hospitals for treatment.
He condemned the attack as a “cowardly act” targeting unarmed civilians, adding that elements hostile to peace were behind the incident.
Security forces cordoned off the area soon after the blast, while investigators and bomb disposal teams collected evidence from the site.
Mr Rind said attacks on public places reflected the “desperation of terrorists” and vowed that the sacrifices of the martyrs would not go in vain.
