Rawalpindi : From September 15 to 27, 2025, the Pakistan and Russian armies are jointly conducting the eighth edition of the bilateral military exercise, Druzhba-VIII, focusing on counterterrorism operations. The exercise aims to enhance cooperation and operational readiness between the two friendly nations in combating evolving security threats.
The ceremony was graced by the Vice Chief of General Staff from Pakistan, who attended as the chief guest, while senior military officials from Russia were also present. Troops from both countries demonstrated the highest standards of professional excellence throughout the exercise.
Druzhba-VIII focuses on refining essential counterterrorism drills, procedures, and techniques, including drone warfare, urban combat in built-up areas, and countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs) through joint training sessions.
Apart from operational objectives, the exercise serves to strengthen the historic military-to-military relationship between Pakistan and Russia, reinforcing mutual trust and strategic cooperation.
