Quetta: The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has praised the efforts of the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust for their humanitarian work in helping the victims of natural disasters. He highlighted that the Trust’s initiative in rebuilding 250 homes in flood-hit areas of Balochistan, including Quetta, Mastung, Pishin, Zhob, and Sohbatpur, is a beacon of hope for the affected families.
While speaking at a ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Wednesday, Chief Minister Bugti emphasized that providing relief to those affected by natural calamities is a selfless service to humanity. He acknowledged the contributions of the Trust’s Chairman, Chaudhry Mohammad Akhtar, as well as the donors and volunteers involved in this noble cause.
During the ceremony, keys to the newly built homes were handed over to the flood victims of 2022. The Chief Minister further assured that the Balochistan government would continue to support such organizations in their humanitarian endeavors, as they play a critical role in fulfilling the country’s social responsibilities.
CM Bugti also expressed concern over the delay in the federal government’s flood rehabilitation plan, stating that many victims are still enduring hardships. He mentioned that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari frequently inquires about the progress of the rehabilitation project and has directed immediate relief for the victims. “If the federal government hands over the project to us, we could complete it in 8 to 9 months under a public-private partnership model,” CM Balochistan added, citing the success of similar initiatives in Sindh.
In addition, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art institution for orphaned children in Balochistan. He assured that the provincial government would provide land free of charge for this purpose and called on philanthropists, ministers, legislators, and government employees to contribute to the initiative. The Chief Minister also pledged his personal involvement in this noble cause.
CM Balochistan praised the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust for its valuable contribution, noting that just as the nation united after the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir, today, people from Kashmir are standing with Balochistan in its time of need. He celebrated the spirit of national unity, which he called the hallmark of Pakistan, and appreciated the selfless efforts of Balochistan’s citizens who supported the relief efforts.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that Balochistan is on a path of transformation, and with collective efforts, the province will continue on the road to development.
At the ceremony, Chaudhry Mohammad Akhtar, Chairman of the Kashmir Orphans Relief Trust, shared the organization’s achievements, and the event was attended by provincial ministers, PPP leaders, and senior government officials. At the end of the ceremony, the Trust’s Chairman presented souvenirs to the Chief Minister and other distinguished guests.
