38 Killed, Several Injured in Attack on Passenger Vehicles in Kurram

LOWER KURRAM: At least 38 people were killed and several others injured when gunmen opened fire on a convoy of passenger vehicles in the Ucheat area of Lower Kurram on Thursday.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the death toll, stating that 38 individuals, including three women, were killed in the attack. The gunmen used automatic weapons to target the vehicles, which were en route from Peshawar to Parachinar, according to Kurram’s District Police Officer (DPO).

The attack took place in the Ucheat area, and the victims were killed on the spot. Several others sustained injuries, and many of them were described as being in critical condition. They were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police and rescue teams swiftly arrived at the scene, sealed off the area, and launched a search operation for the attackers. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Condemnations: President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a cowardly and inhumane act. They expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the attack and extended condolences to the victims’ families.
