Mirziyoyev Urges Unity and Hard Work for Uzbekistan’s Progress at Senate’s Inaugural Session

Tashkent : President Shavkat Mirziyoyev addressed the inaugural plenary session of the newly formed Senate of the Oliy Majlis, highlighting the importance of unity, strong will, and hard work in ensuring peace and progress for Uzbekistan. The session, held in Tashkent, marked the beginning of the Senate’s renewed composition following constitutional reforms that reduced its size from 100 to 65 members, while enhancing their powers and responsibilities.

During his speech, Mirziyoyev congratulated the newly elected senators, emphasizing the crucial role they would play in shaping the country’s future. He noted that the previous Senate had made significant contributions, including hearing over 100 reports and increasing Uzbekistan’s international parliamentary influence through expanded interparliamentary relations.

The President outlined key priorities for the new Senate, including improving legislative processes, enhancing support for local councils, and strengthening mechanisms for monitoring the work of territorial executive bodies. He also highlighted the Senate’s role in fighting corruption, improving legal awareness, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary.

At the session, Tanzila Narbayeva was elected as the Chairperson of the Senate, with Sodiq Safoyev and Amanbay Orinbayev appointed as First Deputy Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively. The formation of seven committees and one commission was also announced as part of the Senate’s organizational structure.

Mirziyoyev called for a unified effort to address the urgent tasks ahead, stressing that the future development of Uzbekistan would depend on the collective efforts of all government institutions and the unwavering commitment to the nation’s prosperity.
