Passport delivery counters across the country will remain open every Saturday for the next two months to facilitate citizens in collecting their ready passports, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has announced.
Under the arrangement, delivery counters will operate from 8am to 4pm on Saturdays, allowing applicants to collect their passports in addition to regular working days.
The DGIP also advised applicants to collect their passports in a timely manner, warning that documents remaining uncollected for more than six months would be disposed of in accordance with government policy.
The measure comes months after the directorate introduced a doorstep passport delivery service, enabling applicants to receive their travel documents at their registered addresses instead of visiting passport offices.
The facility was launched on the directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as part of efforts to streamline passport services and improve public convenience.
According to the department, the service allows applicants to have their passports delivered directly to their registered addresses after completion of the application process.
Earlier, the interior minister had also announced the introduction of cashless transactions at passport offices across the country.
In a post on X, Naqvi said the facility would spare applicants from standing in long queues or waiting for extended periods to make payments.
He described the initiative as another step towards making public services “faster, more transparent, and more convenient”, adding that further improvements were planned.
