ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Tuesday sentenced Umar Hayat to death in the murder case of social media influencer Sana Yusuf and also imposed a fine of Rs2 million.
Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka announced the verdict in the widely followed case, which pertained to the killing of TikToker Sana Yusuf.
According to the prosecution, the court proceedings included presentation of screenshots of calls and chat records allegedly linked to the accused.
The prosecution had prayed for the death penalty twice during final arguments in the case.
The defence counsel, however, maintained that the accused Umar Hayat had expressed mistrust over the state counsel and the trial court. It was further stated that two petitions related to the case were pending before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
During the trial, the accused had denied making any confession or disclosure regarding the murder of Sana Yusuf.
According to police, Sana Yusuf was murdered on June 2, 2025, while Umar Hayat was arrested two days later from Jaranwala.
Police said the accused was subjected to an identification parade on June 13, during which eyewitnesses identified him.
